Almond Croissant at South Pasadena Farmers Market
South Pasadena Farmers Market
Nestled in between South Pasadena’s charming craftsman style homes and their quiet, oak tree lined streets lies the South Pasadena Farmers Market. What brings me here most Thursdays are their almond (and chocolate almond) croissants. They are everything that an almond croissant should be, crunchy and flakey on the outside and soft and decadent on the inside. The magic of these croissants lies in their use of real almond which you can taste, creating a creamy almond filling and a crispy outer layer of almondy goodness. It is the perfect “it’s almost Friday” treat that seems to transport you, if just for a bite, to a bakery in Paris.
The farmer’s market also has a wide selection of local, super fresh produce, lots of free samples (my favorite are the cara cara oranges), and the best yogurt I’ve ever tasted. The South Pasadena Farmers Market is open every Thursday year-round from 4:00-7:00. But don’t wait too long to get these croissants as they’re usually gone fast. If you’re unable to make it to the South Pasadena Farmers Market, Frogs Bakery croissants are available at these other farmers markets.
